Semis Finals action is here as the race for the season grand finals is on, the final four, the best that made it through the first round battle it out! who will be in the Grand Finals!
First game was the 2nd place Birchos vs 3rd place Globo Gym. The Birchos have been on a dream run with having wont he last 8 games including last weeks Quarter finals, to land them against Globo Gym the team that has fought through some injuries and ups and downs from the top rank to be faced with the team to try and break that streak. Out of the gates Reggie came out with a bloodlust for buckets with 18 first half points, pulling up Js from outside and inside the Arc, whereas the Birchos attack was mainly from in the paint with floaters and the bigs getting work done and making a very busy key for the refs to watch. The game was close with both sides getting answer back buckets, but there was no answer for Reggie K as Globo gym led at the half by 7 giving Birchos the task of clawing back, and they did for a few plays, but then the Globo gym crew got busy and worked of Reggies drives, and it did the job giving them the lead by 5 in the end. BIrchos had some last burst of energy and attacked the middle, but they just didn’t hit as many threes and 3s vs 2s, well 3s always win by the end! Unlucky but an amazing tail end of the season for Birchos, a formidable team just short of the Grand Finals. Globo will contend for the championship next week!
Second game of the Semis was the 4th place Dream Team vs the 1st ranked Buckled knees who came out firing as they do and hit some big shots in the first half, passing to their shooters who let it fly and got some to go giving them the lead at half time by 5, Dream team started the game trying to adjust to the pace and did their thing by slashing and rebounding close misses to keep just out of range of the Buckled knees for now but taking their drive and dish and give and go game to the next level worked well on the Buckled knees’ zone defence. 2nd half went as the first did, for the most part, both teams hitting back with buckets on each other, Des and Snowy carrying Dream team with some big shots and plays. But with minutes left, there was a rough play and a technical foul was called sending Dream team to the line, this changed the whole games momentum as the Dream team crew had them on the ropes and kept the attack up on the rattled BK team who had some last big shots to put up to try and catch up, Dave G hit a big 3 to make the score within 4 points, but Buckled knees go home early in the heartbreaking loss right before the last game. Dream Team fought hard for this game, Buckled knees did well but just unlucky to drop this game being so close! Dream team go to the Grand Finals and will battle Globo Gym for the final game to see who will be crowned UBL Thursdays Season 2 Champions!
