UBL is back! And with some teams not ready to ball, the warriors of this weekend didn’t let it stop them from getting buckets and putting their kicks onto the hardwood to wear them in for the long season!
DIv 1 had 1 match, and it was a Grand Finals rematch…Haz Beanz started strong and got the jump on Mudflaps and set the tone from the start, big mentions to the performers in this game. Azza P put in some big numbers and got the game high in points notching an impressive 32 points to ensure they get the win this round. . Fil M 15 & Brook H with an epic performance and great score of 13 points worth of buckets in the win. whilst on the other team, Jimmy L had the licence to shoot and put them up to end on 23 points on the sheet , T Rhodes was unconscious and had no remorse for the defense piling in 22 points but that wasnt enough to get his team over the line this time. Haz Beanz slip into the first spot after taking the mighty Mudflaps down a notch with the first win on them for the year. Haz Beanz came out strong not showing any signs of the break reducing ther accuracy. The bombs kept coming and the 3rd place Mudflaps answered back with Jimmys bomb then some big ones from T Rhodes who kept it close. Haz Beanz up 20 at one stage, the Mudflaps fought back, but the bleeding was too much and they were ousted by 10 points this time!
Div 2 had all the games this day, as the competitors came into the year looking for their win streaks to continue, and for some for their losing streaks to end and start the year with momentum!
Gongstar knew what to expect when they faced Canned Heat in a back and forth game holding the crowd in suspense Alex P owning the glass and taking names in the post with 18 points to shut the defense down. . Mark M getting stats from everywhere including 17 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. Despite a good effort by the other team as Damian R put in some big numbers and got the game high in points notching an impressive 19 points recorded by the bench , Al DF 6 & Jack P played well as far as getting 5 points helping out with the teams offensive load. This game was Mega close and both teams wanted this win. Canned Heat doing well keeping the Gongstars from getting threes, but the paint area was very bsy as GOngstars went to work and kept the pressure on the internal defensive line from the Canned Heat who just couldn’t compete inside, but got out on the break and kept pushing it inside too as tis was a game of getting 2 point buckets. The end score had the Gongstars edge them by a bucket or so, and Gonstars are in 2nd place, Canned heat in equal 3rd!
The Oubres werent going to stand down against The Klaws in a game that started close but ended one sided. Danilo L pushed the break and went home with a tidy 24 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. . Jesse O beasted hard this game finishing on a great 18 points on the sheet even though from the other team, Jet couldnt be stopped this game, and couldnt be contained, the D had no answer as he scored a whopping 32 points but a loss unfortunately , Cam S the recipient of some nice extra passes for open shots getting him 16 points helping out with the teams offensive load. Oubres were ready to go! And they showed up big time with a few scorers getting big numbers which was needed to overcome an amazing shooting game by Jet from Klaws. CBT was ready this time around for AGENTS couldnt stop the unselfish offense they were faced with this game. Emre H heat checked after hitting afew shots and kept going, owning this game with a great 24 points to get over the line. . Todd V 14 & Luka L finished the game with a commendable 12 points worth of buckets in the win. the only resistance coming from, Brennan F with an epic performance and great score of 18 points helping out with the teams offensive load. , Michael P played well as far as getting 14 points but a loss unfortunately . CBT racing for the top of the ladder as their put another win on their record pushing the fast break all game giving the Agents hell as they had to get back and stop the Cherries from being picked, a few of those unanswered points and CBT had them where they wanted them and took the win by 11+. CBT in 2nd place and Agents just behind in 3rd!
