Div 1 had a marquee matchup of Shaqtn a Fools vs Rilla Raptors, Rivals from way back and alot was riding on this one, with Shaqtn undefeated all season and looked to breeze straight into a back to back, but They had to get through raptors first!
1st quarter had the Shaqtn crew play like they were a man or two down! And Rilla raptors had to get their buckets as Shaqtn started to play more like a 4 headed monster team hungry to defy the odds, and it wasn’t too much of a task at the end of this perios with only 7 points between them, raptors and Shaqtn not able to get an edge on each other in many facets of the game Raptors were up 19 – 12 at the end of the quarter..
2nd quarter the lead was slightly extended by Raptors with a steady diet of drive, put backs and pull ups, the end of the half get Lachy CR get the offense startin to move with 3 asissts, and Elliot was on 11 to finish it off, Dan Burke with some John Stockton action with 4 assists, Tim S sitting well on 14 and 2 assits. But the score line was still more than a grasp away..Raptors winning the majority of stats with more hands and constant activity to get this win, the lead started to open up…
3rd and it was all Shaqtn as Lachy tried to get things going on the slash, but the crippling zone was too much as the cutters were even contested in a physical quarter for both teams. The gap was widening as Shaqtn looked a shadow of its former self this season and looked to be trying to keep in the game to make one last run, but it would never come.
4th had it all, the last big push at the paint by Shaqtn, some nice shooting and everyone putting all their effort in for the last game of the season, to the eventual loser, as closing horn for the game sounded, it was Rill Raptors, breaker of streaks, who was able to stand tall, a big recovery of a season having to rebuild early to keep in the race!
Big numbers from Raptors as LAch Demir got 21 points including some huge runs of threes with big range to end with 4 threes and first UBL chip, Dan Burke a great game with 10 points and 5 assists finding the hot hand, Jake P a tidy game with 12 points 7 rebs and Tim S shooting well with 21 points on 54%. Shaqtn had Lachy CR take the matter into his own hands and manages 10 points and 3 assists on a late start, Elliot J was the standout with 14 and 5 rebs, Brynn on a perfect shooting night with 3/3 for 6 points as Shaqtn take the L and the dream crumbles of the perfect season that was never to be..
Great effort to all teams in Div 1 and 2 for the season, congrats to the winners and well done on grinding out the season for the ones that went home with no hardware, next time!, next season!
Div 2 saw the top 2 teams face off, Just trying to ball with my Bros, and North Gong Urchins, who came in first and were strong this season and favourites, but only by a small amount as JTBWMB were hungry and ready to ball.
JTBWMB came out a bit shaky with some early turnovers which the Urchins made them pay for with some quick buckets, leaving a little buffer to work with as JTBWMB kept in the game with their aggressive inside drives and tough D up top. After first quarter the Urchins were up 14 place 7, taking more rebounds 7 place 4 as Urchins shot 55% from the field and hoped to keep it going into the rest of the game.
The 2nd quarter was a bit better for JTBWMB as they got some shots to go putting some work in on both ends, Urchins ended up with 43% to 33% shooting, but not much difference in others stats except for assists which would dictate the game. Half time performers were Will D with 11 for the half and Josh and Jay with 4 a piece.
2nd half had the scoreline stay static at around 10ish, the efforts on the glass paying off getting a few more resulting in the 2nd chance points that kept them ahead, Clive stepping up dropping a total of 10 for the game, and he ate glass with 7rebs so far, JTBWMB spread the scoring efforts as they pushed to break the zone D with not as much success as their break, …. still some work to do, the 4th will need to be perfect!
The 4th and final 12 minutes, as JTBWMB saw Josh H got busy this period with 11 points also matching buckets from Will but still b chasing relentlessly until the final buzzer, JTBWMB would be behind 49 place 38 overall, as the 4th quarter came to a close.
Great Stats on both sides as Will D top scores with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals on 67% FG with a final MVP performance!, Clive with a Finals Double Double as he takes home 12 and 10 in a hard fought game, Urchins shot 43% overall from the field and pulled in 34 rebs to Urchins 29 Urchins won the assist category by 5 and rebounds by 4. JTBWMB had Josh H step up ina big way with 15 points 6 rebs on 47% shooting with a great game for his team, Mitch L with 7 points and 2 steals … pushing through till the end …. JTBWMB unclucky int his one, with not much difference, it was the extra plays and careful passes which got the Urchins the chip, better luck next time, JTBWMB!!

Div 3 Semis was ready to blow as the final four duke it out to see who would get the seed in the grand finals, and it was everything the punters hoped for!
2nd Flaming Anteaters went back and forth but held the lead most of the game against 4th place Orange Peelers and was able to get the much needed win. 1st place Foreplayers started strong and got the jump on 6th place ONE FOUR Veterans in a physical matchup that will set the tone for next time. Tye M got the game high in points outscoring everyone with 15 points to shut the defense down. . Christian D pushed the fast break and trasnsition offense resulting in 12 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. Despite a good effort by the other team as J Penny first step too quick for the guard defense on top totalling 9 points recorded by the bench , Harry C Snapping the wrist to perfection finding the bottom of the net for 8 points helping out with the teams offensive load. FOreplayers too strong on the inside as the rebounds were eaten up by their forwards, leaving the small ballin Veterans to resort to the fast break but weren’t able to land on as many down town buckets, but Foreplayers did, and got up in spurts through the match, holding out till the end and total victory…Foreplayers proceed to the finals, One Four veterans a good end of the season and better luck in the next season!
