The Div1 and Div 2 semis were played out this round as well as the Div 3 Quarter Finals, the night was full of action and the winners fought hard for it.
2nd place Rilla Raptors started strong and got the jump on 3rd ranked The Process in a clinic, taking advantage of lesser defensive matchup. Lachlan D channelled Kobe and wanted the win this time, getting 23 big ones to conlclude the mission . Jamie C points from slashing and finding the gaps in the zone D. 16 points to get over the line. whilst on the other team, Danny B scored well with 12 points on the sheet , Bud G finished the game with a commendable 8 points together as they go down in this matchup. The Raptors pushed it straight away with a barrage of 3s and pushing it inside for the bigs to get things going, Process wouldn’t get momentum much through the game and weren’t able to get stops, giving way to raptors pushgint he lead out and keeping it for the spot in the finals and a possible extra title for the Raptors who have been past champs so know what to do! Process had an unlucky run for the season with their Process being 90% complete then they were hit with trades and injuries which depleted the crew who still didn’t stand down great effort to both teams, Raptors advance.
Div 2 had the top 4 teams face off to leave two teams, the best in their div on the night and who would get to the next round? Some former winners bow out but some solid teams advance…
1st ranked North Gong Urchins started strong and got the jump on 4th ranked Dunkings in a highly defensive game. Will D got the going on the mid range and the 3s whilst James kept the coring up inside putting in work to clean up the glass and make sure Vikas didn’t get too many extra rebounds, Urchins too strong this time as Dunkings weren’t able to keep their game structure long enough to get stops and push the break, Vikas scored well for the team and helped out on the glass, but they were out rebounded inside and that was the eventual factor in a close game for the most part! North Gong Urchins proceed to next round to play the next winner! Good Season to dunkings and good luck to Urchins!
2nd ranked Just tryna ball with my Bros wins a resounding victory over the unlucky 3rd place Double Dribble , who underestimated the hustle of their opponent and copped a loss for it Jay G , a huge huge night with a rarely seen display, possible UBL career high! 30 points to lead to victory. . Josh H finished the game with a commendable 15 points worth of buckets in the win. Which for this game outshines the effort of, Jayke Z was stroking it with ease from all parts of the arc. 16 points worth of buckets in the loss.. , Adam M ended up with an efficient 8 points on the sheet . Just trying to do duty and Just trying to get a win for the boys trying to play ball with their bros, and the formula worked this time as they played hard D on the guards up top which ignited the break and allowed them to get a good buffer to maintain, Double Dribble pushed their game with their 3s and cuts but the inside D wasn’t as prevalent and they paid for it on the boards, and go home early after a pretty good season, Just tryin to get to the Finals did just that with their Bros. Big props to Big man Jay G with an epic 30 point career high game channeling Jordan with a 23 jersey and beasting the glass &putting up 30 to own the post , can he back it up in the finals? 4th place Orange Peelers Traded buckets most game, but kept a nice buffer all game to close it out vs 5th ranked The Rebounds and knew it would be a test on their troops. Omar N focussed on the W, summoned his hustle to put in work for 12 big ones to conlclude the mission . Will played well as far as getting 6 points on the sheet even though from the other team, Aleks J 8 Riley H got a few buckets to go helping out the team with 8 points worth of buckets in the loss.. , Ethan T finished the game with a commendable 5 points helping out with the teams offensive load. . Peeler ran the offense through Omar and got open for some nice inside shots, but the 3s were landing too, the Rebounds heavy on the inside and weren’t able to get out to the 3s and paid for it, even though they controlled the break, the game was won in the half court, REboudns go home early after a pretty good season, well done! But Peelers take their oranges to the next round and look to keep up the chemistry..
6th ranked ONE FOUR Veterans got a good win on the 3rd place Unanderra 26ers in a grind of a game coming right down to the last few minutes to decide the winner. Kyle E had the license to shoot and put them up to end on 8 points to show hes got some skills to be respected. . Khy B had his ducks in a line with a great game on 6 points which was required to keep up in this hectic game. the only resistance coming from, Jude D led all scorers on a solid 10 points as he played his role well and got buckets. , Harry S helped out with the load getting 9 points but a loss unfortunately . big win for the Veterans who got the jump on a not so great shooting night from the 26ers who go home early after a good campaign only to fall short to a great effort on the 3 pointers from One4…who now advance to the next round!
Next week we have the Div 1 and Div2 Grand finals and the Div 3 Semis all games are bound to be epic and worth checkin out as the best of Mondays UBL gather to battle for the ultimate prize!
