Div 3 Grand Finals night! And it was a big night of competitive ball in all Divs, starting with the main event, the Parrots coming in and sweeping the playoffs to get to the final battle and they had their work cut out against the biggest squad in the whole of UBL, and they were strong in numbers and crowd which may have swung the result!
The game started with Lach W getting a drive and that set the crowd into a frenzy and they kept up the pace from there, but Parrots jumped back up and pushed it inside for some mid range Js and 3s as they hit 2 to get into the lead after 1 quarter by 1 point, the game was set to be a close one by the looks of this quarter, N Dunstan with 6 so far and Jack O for Whoopsey with 4.
The 2nd was all Whoopsey as they got out to a quick run that the Parrots just weren’t able to get stops on, this time they got the inside going and collect some fouls along the way getting to the line and a 14 point lead at the half, Lach W getting busy as he got his total up to 13 points so gar with 2 threes int he quarter giving the boost to his team, the Parrots shooting woes started as Whoopsy had their hand up on all shots. The score 27-13 at the half, Whoopsey shooting 45% to keep the lead.
3rd quarter had the Parrots make some small moves that seemed to work but Whoopsey was just too deep and put work in to get up to 20 points ahead, the hopes of Parrots not very strong as they were getting gassed and looking for a hopeful scoring run that hopefully would come in the 4th
The last quarter saw the game closed out by Whoopsey as they withstood a good quarter from Parrots to keep the lead buffer and close the deal and the ultimate goal, the Div 3 title!.
Special mentions to the big performers Liam TR with 11 points and 4 rebs as well as N Dunstan with 10 points and 9 rebs for the Parrots and for WHoopsey Lach W had a greaty game and MVP for the match with 16 points and 3 rebounds on 56% shooting, Rizz played a great game also with 9 points and 9 rebs 2 assists and 3 steals, Paul R pulled in 11 boards and the team got the number to get the win.
Great effort by parrots, down this time but will come back stronger next season! Congrats to Whoopsey, Champs for the 3rd Div on Tuesdays!
Div 1 saw 4 teams face off in a great bunch of games, all teams having the chance to win as they have during the season…winner goes to the Grand Finals!
1st place Killa Beez left it till the final moments after a huge scoring run against 6th place TopGunz and was able to get the much needed win. Andy K felt it was time to step up and got 31 points to lead all scorers and get the win . Josh H pitched in to add to the score with, 10 points to get over the line. whilst on the other team, Brent H scored well with 19 points on the sheet , Dean S finished the game with a commendable 8 points together as they go down in this matchup. Killa Beez were in trouble and late game they pushed it low to the post where Andy K went to work and was able to draw a bunch of fouls hitting alot of free throws getting them back in the game and with almost no time left, 2 free throws sunk and Beez were up by 2, last efforts from Top Gunz in vain despite a great game from the boys hitting the midrange and outside shot hard and battling inside, great game for both teams and a game that could of gone either way! Well done Top Gunz to take on the top teams just to fall short in the Semis…KillaBeez advance to the Finals!
4th place DammnnnnSonnnnn took the game second half from the 2nd place Free Agent Crew in a physical matchup that will set the tone for next time. Peter T got the game high in points outscoring everyone with 20 points to shut the defense down. . Jed P weaved through the zone D with some nice footwork finishing on 17 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. Despite a good effort by the other team as Oscar S first step too quick for the guard defense on top totalling 16 points recorded by the bench , Jackson P pushed the fast break and trasnsition offense resulting in 11 points helping out with the teams offensive load. .
Div 2 had its own rivalries to work out and the matchups were great as everyone wanted the win to keep their season alive…who got up?

4th place Feel Team 6 got a good win on the 1st place Fighting Mongooses in a clinic, taking advantage of lesser defensive matchup. Ryan M got the game high in points outscoring everyone with 26 points to lead all scorers and get the win . Brendan V had a pretty good game scoring wise with 5 points to get over the line. but on the other side G Bailey kept his eye on the hoop and ended up with 14 points as he was operating in automatic mode , Zac scored well with 10 points together as they go down in this matchup. . Feel Team just too young too quick and too hungry for teh ball as they were able to get up time and time again on the break and get it going from outside, Mongooses weren’t able to hit their outside shot ,and their post game wasn’t firing much, by the end the scoreline was 8 but Feel Team seemed to control the pace in this one, and will advance to the Grand Finals, Better luck next time Mongooses, great season to rank high finishing up the regular season!
