SEMI FINALS for Season 17 is here! The Final 4 teams in each Div have worked hard to get through the regular season with a good rank to get a favorable matchup in the Quarters, But now in Semis, it’s going to be tight and the winner will be unclear till the final horn sounds! Whos goin to the Grand Finals next week?
Division 1 had some stories about to unfold that no one expected this season, with The Hogz looking to get another championship, and the rest of the league chasing the dream and putting it all down to defy the odds, what happened!?
1ST place Streetfighters had better offense than the defense of their opponent, 6th ranked Yo Mambas and set the tone from the start, big mentions to the performers in this game. Scotty W channelled Kobe and wanted the win this time, getting 19 points to ensure they get the win this round. Lach cR was stroking it with ease from all parts of the arc. 18 points worth of buckets in the win. whilst on the other team, Oscar S weaved through the zone D with some nice footwork finishing on 17 points on the sheet , Jarryd T Snapping the wrist to perfection finding the bottom of the net for 10 points but that wasnt enough to get his team over the line this time. Streetfighters were on a roll and after a weeks rest from coming first they were ready to jump on the Yo Mambas from the get go. Hitting 3 straight 3s, the Yo Mambas were putting in work inside and trygin to grind the game with 2 pointers, but as you know 3s beat 3s and by the half Streetfighters were up by 16 giving Yo Mambas the task of fighting back in the 2nd half. Oscar did well to put up some solid floaters and hanging jumpers to keep the Yo Mambas in the hunt, as jarryd hit his pull to stop the Streetfighters runs but not enough to overcome the gap from the start of the game. Nitro was big and super efficient inside as lachy was hungry to get some points this game and fired up some big 3s and pushed the drive on the inside. Yo Mambas weren’t able to get the other players going with so much perimeter D and Streetfighters send Yo Mambas home afte ra great effort to get to and play har din the Semis! Streetfighters are on their way and will face the winner of the other Semis! Can this be their first win as the Streetfighter franchise? Next week will reveal all!
4th ranked MIB with an amzing finish and win vs 2ND place Hogz who werent ready for them this game. Dan B couldnt be stopped this game, and couldnt be contained, the D had no answer as he scored a whopping 29 points to shut the defense down. Seth got
23 points from all over the court with no regard for the D whilst Jack H slotted in some 3s with some tidy finishes also to get 17 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. Despite a good effort by the other team as Aaron P pushed the fast break and trasnsition offense resulting in 21 points recorded by the bench , Elliot J scored well but it wasnt enough as he notched 17 points helping out with the teams offensive load. . Hogz should have had this game wrapped up, with a full squad ready to do some damage, they came out firing with both teams trading threes and going inside against each others zones with no regard for who was there. MIB stepped up big time and had the lead at the half by only 2. Dan B was huge for MIB hitting 5 threes and a big game high of 29, Seth was on fire too with 23 hitting threes like layups and taking it to the cup when his shot was contested. Jack H was a monster from everywhere as always, the Quiet Assassin helping MIB get to the Grand Finals by the end as they were on the right side of the garbage time grind in the last 2 minute. Hogz go home early ina heartbreaking defeat to a now powerful MIB team that has been in rebuild mode for a while! Hogz will have to look to next season to start their championship dreams again, could this be the dawning of some new leaders? MIB think so!
Division 2was full of action with the final four about to go at it and find out who deserves to be in the final face off next week, the Grand Finals.
5th ranked THE Bombers knew it would take more than buckets, they needed stops and that got them the win.. 1ST place BUCKETS and was able to get the much needed win. Jed P beasted hard this game finishing on a great 22 points, a much needed performance as they won the scoring matchup against the other teams leading man. . Lachie P was heating up as he bagged 12 points on the sheet even though from the other team, Anthony G put in some big numbers and got the game high in points notching an impressive 25 points but a loss unfortunately , Jon C played well as far as getting 9 points helping out with the teams offensive load. . Bombers looked determined but not as much as BUCKETS who always put their heads down and step up when needed. This time it was Giggz who carried the team with 25 and a dominant attack on the hoop, causing issues in the paint for Bombers who had the lead by only 1 point at the half. Bombers kept the attack from outside and in as Jed P led the way with 22 and his floater which was unstoppable for the much of the game. Lachy P was running the point well and getting some slick passing to the scorers and the eventual win. BUCKETS take the bus home early and only lost out late with some foul trouble getting Bombers to the line where they where Ivan was able to close the game out and see them go to the Grand Finals!
2ND place Killa Beez had its work cut out against 3rd ranked BOHICA in a game that had the winners go on scoring runs that werent answered in time. Wayne J got the game high in points outscoring everyone with 13 points to get over the line. . Mick O just too much experience around the paint getting 10 points worth of buckets in the win. the only resistance coming from, Muz O with an epic performance and great score of 11 points helping out with the teams offensive load. , Conor 9 & John J getting stats from everywhere including 6 points but a loss unfortunately . Killa Beez were looking to get this post season under their control, and BOHICA are the hot team that would upset the higher rank. Killa Beez were just too deep and had all their bees swarming, Wayne J activating and putting in his 3 balls as well as his drives giving momentum to the Beeez, Dan B hit his wing shots, and jayden and Dale were great on the fast break. Mcik O cleaned up inside and the whol Killa Beez machine was too much for BOHICA who had Muz step up big time hitting some athletic shots and 3s to keep the boys head up. John J and Conor did well, but were heavily guarded and couldn’t get their usual fast break when they wanted. Killa Beez go to the Grand Finals to face Bombers and this one will be a blockbuster! BOHICA just ousted in the 2nd last game before their elusive finals appearance that’s long overdue! It will have to be Next season!
Division 3 was busy with hustle and with hopes of Grand Finals appearance next week. 3rd place Bricklayers grinded out a win in back and forth match vs 2ND ranked Dinoscores in a loud and hectic game keeping refs active and players tense. Jake E heat checked after hitting afew shots and kept going, owning this game with a great 24 points to ensure they get the win this round. . Jye P 9 & Jamie W weaved through the zone D with some nice footwork finishing on 7 points in this game. Whilst on the other team, Doug K had the licence to shoot and put them up to end on 18 points but a loss unfortunately , Jason K 8 & Paul D ended up with an efficient 7 points as he pitched in to add to the score. . Bricklayers were looking to keep their hot streak going and weren’t going to let down against the higher ranked Dinoscores led by Doug Kang who was only able to get the Korean BBQ starte in the 2nd half due to the defense all over him. The 2nd half run was a little too late as Bricklayers led at the half by 8 giving the Dinoscores the task of playing catchup. This just didn’t happen despite some great work by Jason K on the mid range and Paul D helping out with some buckets too. Bricklayers saw Jake E get red hot from everywhere notching the game high 24 and not letting the defense dictate where he went. By the end Bricklayers kept the lead and will now go to the Grand Finals next week after a great post season so far. Dinoscores go home early and hold their heads high after a solid regular season which was cut short 1 game before their fated Grand finals appearance. They will look to aquire some new talent and rework the lineup to come back eve stronger next season!
1ST ranked Fumblerz kept their structure and managed a W, after being behind most of the game against 5th place PRESTIGE Worldwide in a game that had the winners go on scoring runs that werent answered in time. Danny B channelled Kobe and wanted the win this time, getting 17 big ones to conlclude the mission . Dave G 11 & Neale P finished the game with a commendable 11 points on the sheet which simply outscored the other teams leaders being, Sam B was unconscious and had no remorse for the defense piling in 16 points recorded by the bench , Sonny felt it was time to step up and got 11 points helping out with the teams offensive load. . Fumblerz wernet going to let PRESTIGE Worldwide get in their way after a solid season so far. PRESTIGE Worldwide did great to get to this round and were fighting from the start, Sam B on fire with 16 and pushing the tempo at every chance, not allowing the Fumblerz defense to set. Sonny did great running the point and pushing the break too giving the deep squad of the Fumblerz something to worry about as they trailed by 8 at the half, this would be a graet game to show what they could do! Danny B was off his head with some Kobe-esque fadeaways and the constant scoring that eventually go the lead and the win! Dave G was scooping his layups on point and hitting some outside shots whilst Neale handled things inside, this combo was too much for PRESTIGE Worldwide and they went down and go into recovery mode before next season which has been their best yet to fall short just 1 game fo the Grand Finals. Fumblerz will take on Bricklayers next week in a battle of 2 Div 3 powerhouses!
